He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away (1) Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). (2) But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? (3) or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) So you are after him! (6) though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- (7) And as to him who comes to you striving hard, (8) While he fears [Allah], (9) Him thou neglectest! (10) By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: (11) Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. (12) in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, (13) Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, (14) In the hands of scribes (angels). (15) noble and most virtuous. (16) Perish the human! How unthankful he is! (17) Of what substance God created him? (18) Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, (19) He makes his path easy for him. (20) then makes him to die, and buries him, (21) Then He will raise him up again when He please. (22) Yet man declines to do His bidding. (23) Then let mankind look at his food - (24) That We pour forth water in abundance, (25) Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], (26) and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, (27) And grapes and vegetables (28) Olives and dates, (29) and dense-tree'd gardens, (30) fruits, and grass. (31) as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. (32) But when the deafening cry shall be sounded (33) on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, (34) mother, father, (35) wife and sons, (36) On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. (37) Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, (38) and be cheerful and joyous. (39) And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, (40) Veiled in darkness, (41) those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. (42)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
