He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. (1) Because there came unto him a blind man. (2) But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? (3) or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) To him you attend; (6) though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. (7) But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] (8) And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), (9) of him you were unmindful. (10) By no means! Verily it is an admonition. (11) and so, whoever is willing may remember Him (12) (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, (13) Exalted (in dignity), purified, (14) (Written) by the hands of scribes- (15) noble and virtuous scribes. (16) Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! (17) From what thing doth He create him? (18) Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, (19) and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. (20) Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; (21) Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. (22) By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. (23) Then let mankind look at his food - (24) We send down abundant water, (25) Then We split the earth properly. (26) And We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), (28) Olives and dates, (29) and dense orchards, (30) And fruits and herbage (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) But when the great calamity comes (33) On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, (34) And from his mother and his father, (35) And his wife and his sons; (36) On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. (37) (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, (38) laughing and joyous (39) Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, (40) Covered with the blackness (of shame): (41) Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. (42)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
