He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 lofty and pure, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
