He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, (1) that the blind man came to him. (2) You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, (3) or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. (4) As for him who was indifferent, (5) you eagerly attended to him -- (6) though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. (7) But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, (8) And is also fearful (of God), (9) you pay him no heed. (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. (12) Inscribed in Writs honoured, (13) Exalted (in dignity), purified, (14) borne by the hands of scribes, (15) noble and pious. (16) May man be slain how ungrateful he is! (17) From what has God created him? (18) Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, (19) and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. (20) Then He caused him to die and be buried (21) Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) (22) By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. (23) Then let man look at his food, (24) That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, (25) and then We cleaved the earth asunder. (26) then caused the grain to grow out of it, (27) grapes, and fresh fodder, (28) And olive and palm trees (29) and gardens dense with foliage, (30) and fruits and fodder (31) as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. (32) But when the Shout cometh (33) on that Day each person will flee from his brother, (34) And his mother and his father, (35) And his spouse and his son-- (36) Each man will have enough cares that day. (37) Some faces on that day shall shine (38) laughing and joyous (39) And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, (40) Dust shall cover them (41) those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. (42)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
