The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) By the angels who glide swimmingly, (3) and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: (4) And those who arrange [each] matter, (5) The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, (6) and will be followed by the second one, (7) hearts will throb on that Day (8) Eyes be lowered in submission. (9) (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state (10) What, when we are bones old and wasted?' (11) They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" (12) But it shall be only a single cry, (13) When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). (14) HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. (15) Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: (16) 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. (17) and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, (18) and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' (19) So he showed him the greater sign; (20) But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. (21) Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) And he summoned all his people, (23) And said, "I am your most exalted lord." (24) But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. (25) Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. (26)
