The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, (1) And [by] those who remove with ease (2) And who glide with ease. (3) And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (4) Then those who regulate the affair. (5) One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, (6) and will be followed by another quaking. (7) Hearts on that day shall palpitate, (8) Their looks will be downcast. (9) They say: "Shall we go back to our original state (10) When we have become bones decayed! (11) They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". (12) Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, (13) and behold, they are awakened. (14) Has not there come to you the story of Musa? (15) When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). (17) And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? (18) And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. (19) So he showed him the greater sign; (20) In response, he denied and disobeyed. (21) Then he turned away in a hurry, (22) and gathered his people and declared: (23) “I am the supreme lord of you all.” (24) So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. (25) In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. (26)
