The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. (1) and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, (2) By the lone stars floating, (3) And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (4) And direct affairs by command, (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) And there will follow it the next blast. (7) On that day hearts beat painfully (8) Eyes be lowered in submission. (9) They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, (10) even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” (11) They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". (12) So that is not but a single shout. (13) And lo! they will be awakened. (14) Have you received the story of Moses? (15) When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, (16) Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). (17) Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: (18) And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? (19) So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. (20) But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); (21) Then he turned away in a hurry, (22) then he mustered (23) and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' (24) So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. (25) surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. (26)
