The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
