The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, (1) by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), (2) And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming (3) by the angels who hasten along (4) and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). (5) On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts (6) Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): (7) Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; (8) and their eyes shall be humbled. (9) (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again (10) after we have become bones and dust?" (11) They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." (12) It will only be a single blast, (13) and behold, they are awakened. (14) Hast thou received the story of Moses? (15) His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, (16) Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). (17) Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: (18) And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" (19) And he showed him the tremendous token. (20) But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] (21) and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; (22) Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, (23) and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," (24) So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. (25) Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. (26)
