The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. (1) and gently take it away; (2) And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), (3) And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (4) and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! (5) Upon the day when the first blast shivers (6) And there will follow it the next blast. (7) Hearts will pound loudly on that day, (8) While eyes are downcast (9) They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (10) Even after we are crumbled bones? (11) They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” (12) But all it will take is a single blast, (13) to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. (14) HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. (15) Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. (16) (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - (17) And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", (18) And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" (19) He showed him the mighty sign, (20) but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). (21) then he turned away hastily, (22) Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, (23) And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." (24) And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. (25) In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. (26)
