The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
