The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, (1) By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (2) and float [through space] with floating serene, (3) And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (4) and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). (5) On the day when the first trump resoundeth. (6) And the following event will come after it. (7) On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), (8) Their eyes humbled. (9) (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state (10) Even after we are crumbled bones? (11) They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. (12) However, it will only take a single blast (13) and behold! They will all come out in the open. (14) (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses (15) When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? (16) "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. (17) And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? (18) Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. (19) And he showed him the greatest sign, (20) Yet he belied and disobeyed. (21) then he turned away hastily, (22) then he mustered (23) and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' (24) So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. (25) surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. (26)
