The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently (3) And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (4) and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! (5) On the day when the first trump resoundeth. (6) What must happen afterwards shall follow it. (7) (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, (10) even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” (11) They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” (12) It will only be a single blast, (13) and behold, they are awakened. (14) Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! (15) His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: (16) "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right (17) and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? (18) I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". (19) And he showed him the greatest sign, (20) But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; (21) Then he turned his back, striving. (22) And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, (23) And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” (24) So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. (25) Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. (26)
