The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; (1) By the angels who release with gentle release. (2) by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), (3) by those that outstrip them suddenly, (4) And those who arrange [each] matter, (5) The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, (6) and will be followed by the second one, (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, (10) “When we have become decayed bones?” (11) They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' (12) But it will be only a single blow, (13) and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! (14) Has Moses' story reached you? (15) When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. (16) Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. (17) And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? (18) [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" (19) He showed him the mighty sign, (20) But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. (21) Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) Then he gathered (men) and called out. (23) and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" (24) but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: (25) In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. (26)
