The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. (1) By the angels who release with gentle release. (2) by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), (3) And those who race each other in a race (4) And those who govern the event, (5) On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), (6) followed by the succeeding, (7) Hearts on that day shall palpitate, (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? (10) What, when we are bones old and wasted?' (11) They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" (12) It will be only one scaring shout, (13) And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. (14) Has there reached you the story of Moses? - (15) When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, (17) and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? (18) and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' (19) And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. (20) In response, he denied and disobeyed. (21) and hastily turned away, (22) Then he gathered and cried aloud, (23) “I am the supreme lord of you all.” (24) Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. (25) Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! (26)
