The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), (1) and those that draw out violently, (2) by those that swim serenely (3) and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: (4) and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). (5) On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], (6) Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) Their looks will be downcast. (9) They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, (10) After having turned to carious bones?" (11) They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" (12) But it shall be only a single cry, (13) And lo! they will be awakened. (14) Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? (15) Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- (16) Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. (17) And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? (18) that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." (19) Moses showed him the great sign, (20) but he cried lies, and rebelled, (21) and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, (22) And he summoned all his people, (23) And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” (24) Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. (25) Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! (26)
