The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, (1) And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) (2) by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), (3) Then outpace the others swiftly (4) And those who arrange [each] matter, (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) And the following event will come after it. (7) hearts will be throbbing, (8) Their eyes cast down. (9) They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? (10) even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” (11) They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. (12) But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, (13) And they will wake up suddenly. (14) Have you received the story of Moses? (15) Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. (16) "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: (17) Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: (18) Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" (19) So he showed him the great sign, (20) but he cried lies, and rebelled, (21) and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, (22) So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. (23) Saying: "I am your lord, most high", (24) Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. (25) Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). (26)
