The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; (1) And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, (2) And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), (3) And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (4) by the managers (angels) affair. (5) On the day when the first trump resoundeth. (6) and the second blast follows it, (7) (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. (8) [and] their eyes downcast... (9) They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, (10) Even if we should be decayed bones? (11) They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. (12) However, it will only take a single blast (13) and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! (14) Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? (15) His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: (16) Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. (17) And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; (18) Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" (19) Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. (20) But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; (21) then he turned away hastily, (22) and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] (23) And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” (24) So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. (25) In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. (26)
