The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, (1) by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), (2) And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), (3) and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); (4) And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) And the second followeth it, (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. (9) They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, (10) Even if we should be decayed bones? (11) They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” (12) Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, (13) So they will immediately be in an open plain. (14) Has the story of Moses reached thee? (15) His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: (16) "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. (17) And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? (18) And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" (19) He showed him the mighty sign, (20) but he denied it and refused [the faith]. (21) and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, (22) And he gathered [his people] and called out (23) Saying: "I am your lord, most high", (24) So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. (25) In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. (26)
