The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), (3) and those that outstrip suddenly (4) and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! (5) On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts (6) Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): (7) (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? (10) even after we are fragmented bones' (11) They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" (12) But it shall be only a single cry, (13) and behold! They will all come out in the open. (14) HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. (15) His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, (16) [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, (17) And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? (18) And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" (19) And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. (20) But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] (21) and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, (22) then, he gathered, proclaimed, (23) Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". (24) So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. (25) Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. (26)
