The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence (1) And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, (2) By the angels who glide swimmingly, (3) Then outpace the others swiftly (4) and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! (5) On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), (6) What must happen afterwards shall follow it. (7) Hearts, that Day, will tremble, (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” (10) "Even after we are crumbled bones?" (11) They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." (12) But it will be only a single blow, (13) So they will immediately be in an open plain. (14) Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? (15) Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. (16) Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. (17) Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? (18) that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." (19) So he showed him the great sign, (20) But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] (21) Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, (23) and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" (24) So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. (25) Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! (26)
