The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently (1) By the angels who release with gentle release. (2) And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). (3) by those that outstrip them suddenly, (4) by the managers (angels) affair. (5) On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) (6) followed by the succeeding, (7) On that day hearts beat painfully (8) Their eyes humbled. (9) They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? (10) What! when we are rotten bones? (11) They say: that then shall be a losing return. (12) It will be only one scaring shout, (13) When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, (14) Has the story of Moses come to you (15) Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: (16) saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, (17) And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", (18) [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" (19) So he showed him the mighty sign. (20) But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. (21) Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) Then he gathered (men) and called out. (23) And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." (24) but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: (25) Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. (26)
