The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, (1) And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) (2) by those that swim serenely (3) and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: (4) And then they manage the affair, (5) On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], (6) And the following event will come after it. (7) Many a heart will flutter on that day! (8) Their looks will be downcast. (9) [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state (10) Even after we are crumbled bones? (11) They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. (12) But all it will take is a single blast, (13) When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, (14) Has Moses' story reached you? (15) When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, (16) "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. (17) Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: (18) Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" (19) Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. (20) But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); (21) Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] (23) “I am the supreme lord of you all.” (24) So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. (25) Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. (26)
