The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, (1) By the angels who release with gentle release. (2) And those who glide swimmingly, (3) by the angels who hasten along (4) And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). (5) The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively (6) Followed by the second blast, (7) hearts will undergo terrible trembling, (8) Their eyes cast down. (9) They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? (10) even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” (11) and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." (12) But all it will take is a single blast, (13) and lo, they will all be in the open plain. (14) Has the story of Moses reached thee? (15) When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. (17) "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- (18) Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" (19) Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; (20) but he denied it as false and disobeyed, (21) and hastily turned away, (22) Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, (23) “I am the supreme lord of you all.” (24) So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. (25) Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. (26)
