The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, (1) By the angels who release with gentle release. (2) by those that swim serenely (3) By the angels hastening, (4) And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). (5) On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), (6) and will be followed by the second one, (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, (10) "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" (11) [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" (12) So that is not but a single shout. (13) and lo, they will all be in the open plain. (14) Have you received the story of Moses? (15) His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: (16) and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, (17) And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? (18) and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' (19) And he showed him the tremendous token. (20) Yet he belied and disobeyed. (21) Then he turned back striving. (22) and gathered his people and declared: (23) And said, "I am your most exalted lord." (24) So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. (25) Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. (26)
