The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, (1) and gently take it away; (2) by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently (3) And those who race each other in a race (4) And direct affairs by command, (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): (7) hearts upon that day shall be athrob (8) and eyes will be humbly cast down. (9) (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again (10) even after we are fragmented bones' (11) They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” (12) It will only be a single blast, (13) When lo! they shall be wakeful. (14) Have you heard the story of Moses? (15) When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: (16) Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. (17) and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? (18) and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' (19) So he showed him the greater sign; (20) Yet he belied and disobeyed. (21) Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, (23) And he said: I am your Lord, most high. (24) So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. (25) Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). (26)
