The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, (1) And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, (2) And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming (3) and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); (4) Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), (5) On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], (6) to be followed by further [convulsions], (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) and their eyes will be humbled. (9) They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (10) When we have become bones decayed! (11) They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." (12) But it shall be only a single scare, (13) and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). (14) Did the news of Moosa reach you? (15) When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? (16) "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right (17) And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? (18) Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. (19) Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). (20) In response, he denied and disobeyed. (21) Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) Then he gathered and cried aloud, (23) Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." (24) but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: (25) In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. (26)
