The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), (3) Then outpace the others swiftly (4) And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). (5) On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], (6) Followed by the second blast, (7) Hearts will pound loudly on that day, (8) Their eyes humbled. (9) [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state (10) "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" (11) They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” (12) But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). (13) and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). (14) Has the story of Moses reached thee? (15) When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, (17) Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: (18) Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). (19) So he showed him the mighty sign. (20) But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] (21) and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, (22) then he mustered (23) And he said: I am your Lord, most high. (24) So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. (25) Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). (26)
