The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) (1) By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (2) And those who glide swimmingly, (3) and those that outstrip suddenly (4) And who plan the implementation. (5) The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively (6) followed by the succeeding, (7) hearts will throb on that Day (8) Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. (9) They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, (10) After having turned to carious bones?" (11) [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" (12) Indeed, it will be but one shout, (13) When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, (14) HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. (15) His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, (16) [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, (17) And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? (18) [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" (19) And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. (20) But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; (21) and hastily turned away, (22) So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. (23) and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' (24) So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. (25) Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. (26)
