The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), (3) by the angels who hasten along (4) And who plan the implementation. (5) One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, (6) And there will follow it the next blast. (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) Their looks will be downcast. (9) They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, (10) even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" (11) They say: that then shall be a losing return. (12) Surely it will need but one shout, (13) And lo! they will be awakened. (14) (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses (15) Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- (16) Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. (17) and say, 'Will you reform yourself? (18) Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" (19) Moses showed him the great miracle (20) But he denied and disobeyed, (21) Then he turned away, deliberating, (22) And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, (23) saying, "I am your supreme lord". (24) So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. (25) Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). (26)
