The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, (1) and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, (2) and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), (3) And those who race each other in a race (4) And then they manage the affair, (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) to be followed by further [convulsions], (7) Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; (8) and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. (9) They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? (10) even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” (11) They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. (12) But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). (13) and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! (14) HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. (15) When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. (17) Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: (18) "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" (19) Then he shewed him the great sign. (20) Yet he belied and disobeyed. (21) Then he turned back striving. (22) Then he gathered (men) and called out. (23) and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" (24) So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. (25) Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). (26)
