The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence (1) And [by] those who remove with ease (2) And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). (3) And who quickly present themselves. (4) by the managers (angels) affair. (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) Followed by the second blast, (7) Hearts will pound loudly on that day, (8) Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. (9) They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? (10) Even after we are crumbled bones? (11) They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" (12) So that is not but a single shout. (13) and behold! They will all come out in the open. (14) Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! (15) Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: (16) Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). (17) "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- (18) [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" (19) So he showed him the greater sign; (20) But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); (21) and hastily turned away, (22) then, he gathered, proclaimed, (23) Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." (24) And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. (25) Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. (26)
