46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently (3) And then they speed with foremost speed. (4) Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) And there will follow it the next blast. (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. (9) They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, (10) What, when we are bones old and wasted?' (11) They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” (12) Surely it will need but one shout, (13) And lo! they will be awakened. (14) Has not there come to you the story of Musa? (15) Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: (16) saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, (17) And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? (18) And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. (19) Moses showed him the great sign, (20) But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); (21) Then turned he away in haste, (22) then he mustered (23) Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". (24) So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. (25) Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). (26)
