The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently (1) and gently take it away; (2) And those who glide swimmingly, (3) Then press forward as in a race, (4) Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), (5) On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], (6) What must happen afterwards shall follow it. (7) hearts will undergo terrible trembling, (8) Their eyes humbled. (9) They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, (10) even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" (11) They say: that then shall be a losing return. (12) However, it will only take a single blast (13) And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. (14) HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. (15) When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. (16) Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). (17) And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself (18) and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' (19) So he showed him the greater sign; (20) but he cried lies, and rebelled, (21) Then turned he away in haste, (22) Then he gathered (men) and called out. (23) And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." (24) So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. (25) In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. (26)
