The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) (1) By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (2) And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming (3) and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); (4) And direct affairs by command, (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): (7) Hearts, that Day, will tremble, (8) and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. (9) They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? (10) After having turned to carious bones?" (11) They say: that then shall be a losing return. (12) But it shall be only a single cry, (13) And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. (14) Has there reached you the story of Moses? - (15) His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, (16) and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, (17) And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; (18) and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' (19) And he showed him the greatest sign, (20) but he denied it and refused [the faith]. (21) and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; (22) And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, (23) and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' (24) So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. (25) Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. (26)
