The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, (1) And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, (2) And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), (3) And who quickly present themselves. (4) And who plan the implementation. (5) On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], (6) and will be followed by another quaking. (7) Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; (8) and eyes will be humbly cast down. (9) They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? (10) When we have become bones decayed! (11) They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". (12) But it shall be only a single scare, (13) to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. (14) Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? (15) when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, (16) "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. (17) Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: (18) [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" (19) And he showed him the tremendous token. (20) In response, he denied and disobeyed. (21) Then he turned back striving. (22) and gathered his people and declared: (23) saying, "I am your supreme lord". (24) So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. (25) In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. (26)
