The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) by those that swim serenely (3) And then they speed with foremost speed. (4) Then those who regulate the affair. (5) On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts (6) The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), (7) On that day hearts beat painfully (8) [and] their eyes downcast... (9) (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state (10) Even after we are crumbled bones? (11) They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' (12) But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, (13) When lo! they shall be wakeful. (14) Have you heard the story of Moses? (15) When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: (16) That “Go to Firaun he has rebelled.” (17) Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? (18) and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' (19) And he showed him the greatest sign, (20) But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. (21) Then he went back hastily. (22) And he gathered [his people] and called out (23) and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," (24) So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. (25) Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). (26)
