The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, (1) By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (2) And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). (3) Then outpace the others swiftly (4) and by those who regulate events. (5) On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], (6) followed by the succeeding, (7) hearts will be throbbing, (8) and their eyes shall be humbled. (9) They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (10) "Even after we are crumbled bones?" (11) They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. (12) But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, (13) and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). (14) Has Moses' story reached you? (15) When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, (16) and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, (17) And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; (18) And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? (19) And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. (20) In response, he denied and disobeyed. (21) Then turned he away in haste, (22) Then he gathered and cried aloud, (23) and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" (24) So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. (25) Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). (26)
