The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, (1) By the meteors rushing, (2) by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), (3) and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, (4) And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). (5) On the day when the first trump resoundeth. (6) and will be followed by another quaking. (7) hearts upon that day shall be athrob (8) and eyes will be humbly cast down. (9) They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (10) even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” (11) They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." (12) However, it will only take a single blast (13) When lo! they shall be wakeful. (14) Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? (15) How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, (16) 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. (17) and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, (18) Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" (19) And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. (20) but he denied it as false and disobeyed, (21) Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) Then he gathered and cried aloud, (23) And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” (24) And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. (25) In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. (26)
