The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, (1) And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) (2) And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming (3) By the angels hastening, (4) by those that direct an affair! (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) and the second blast follows it, (7) Hearts, that Day, will tremble, (8) While eyes are downcast (9) They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, (10) even after we have turned into decayed bones?" (11) They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. (12) But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, (13) and behold! They will all come out in the open. (14) Has Moses' story reached you? (15) Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. (16) "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, (17) and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, (18) Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). (19) So he showed him the mighty sign. (20) But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. (21) Then he turned away, deliberating, (22) and gathered his people and declared: (23) Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." (24) And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. (25) In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. (26)
