The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently (1) By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (2) by those that swim serenely (3) and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); (4) and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). (5) The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, (6) And the following event will come after it. (7) hearts will throb on that Day (8) Their looks will be downcast. (9) [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state (10) Even if we should be decayed bones? (11) and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." (12) But all it will take is a single blast, (13) and behold, they are awakened. (14) (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses (15) Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. (16) "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. (17) And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; (18) Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" (19) So he showed him the great sign, (20) But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; (21) and hastily turned away, (22) And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, (23) saying, "I am your supreme lord". (24) And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. (25) surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. (26)
