The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) (1) By the angels who release with gentle release. (2) and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), (3) And those who race each other in a race (4) Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), (5) On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), (6) And the following event will come after it. (7) Hearts, that Day, will tremble, (8) While eyes are downcast (9) They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, (10) What, when we are bones old and wasted?' (11) They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." (12) But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, (13) and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). (14) Has Moses' story reached you? (15) Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. (16) [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, (17) “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ (18) ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” (19) He showed him the mighty sign, (20) but he denied it as false and disobeyed, (21) Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) And he gathered [his people] and called out (23) Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. (24) but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: (25) Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. (26)
