The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. (1) by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, (2) And by those who float in space, (3) And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (4) and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! (5) The day on which the quaking one shall quake, (6) And the second followeth it, (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. (9) (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again (10) "Even after we are crumbled bones?" (11) They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. (12) It will be only one scaring shout, (13) And they will wake up suddenly. (14) Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! (15) When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, (16) "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: (17) And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? (18) Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" (19) And he showed him the greatest sign, (20) but he belied and disobeyed, (21) Then turned he away in haste, (22) And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, (23) and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," (24) but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: (25) Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. (26)
