The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, (1) And those who undo the bonds gently, (2) And by those who float in space, (3) Then outpace the others swiftly (4) And those who arrange [each] matter, (5) The day on which the quaking one shall quake, (6) and the second blast follows it, (7) Hearts, that Day, will tremble, (8) Their eyes cast down. (9) [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state (10) "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" (11) They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” (12) Indeed, it will be but one shout, (13) And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. (14) Did the news of Moosa reach you? (15) when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, (16) "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, (17) And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? (18) "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" (19) And he showed him the tremendous token. (20) but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). (21) Then he turned back striving. (22) Then he gathered and cried aloud, (23) then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' (24) So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. (25) Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). (26)
