The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, (1) By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (2) By the angels who glide swimmingly, (3) By the angels hastening, (4) And direct affairs by command, (5) On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), (6) And the second followeth it, (7) hearts will throb on that Day (8) While eyes are downcast (9) They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, (10) “When we have become decayed bones?” (11) They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' (12) Surely it will need but one shout, (13) and behold! They will all come out in the open. (14) Has not there come to you the story of Musa? (15) When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, (16) saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. (17) And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", (18) I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". (19) Moses showed him the great miracle (20) But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; (21) Then he turned away in a hurry, (22) and gathered his people together (23) And he said: I am your Lord, most high. (24) So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. (25) surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. (26)
