The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, (1) by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, (2) by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), (3) by the angels who hasten along (4) Then those who regulate the affair. (5) On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], (6) to be followed by further [convulsions], (7) Many a heart will flutter on that day! (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” (10) “When we have become decayed bones?” (11) They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" (12) But it shall be only a single cry, (13) And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. (14) Have you received the story of Moses? (15) Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. (16) Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. (17) And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", (18) that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." (19) So he showed him the greater sign; (20) but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). (21) He then turned away, striving in his effort. (22) And he gathered [his people] and called out (23) Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." (24) And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. (25) In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. (26)
