The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. (4) But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; (5) From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. (6) (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, (7) those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: (9) behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" (10) Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; (11) And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. (12) Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. (13) And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- (15) crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. (19) When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. (20) They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
