The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. (4) As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- (5) A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. (11) and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. (12) Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. (13) The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. (14) And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (19) And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. (20) Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. (21) "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." (22)
