The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms (5) A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. (6) The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. (7) They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, (8) Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. (9) Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." (10) But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. (11) And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, (12) Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. (13) And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. (14) Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. (17) A fountain there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. (19) When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” (22)
