The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. (6) They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. (7) And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: (8) (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. (9) Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. (10) So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, (11) And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, (12) Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, (15) (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) A spring there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' (22)
