The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? (1) We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. (2) We have indeed shown him the way whether he is grateful or ingrate. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, (7) who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. (11) And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. (14) And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, (15) Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. (19) When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. (22)
