The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; (2) Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- (15) goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. (19) Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. (20) They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
