The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. (2) Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). (3) For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. (4) Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. (7) And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. (8) (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. (9) We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." (10) So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, (11) And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. (12) Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. (13) The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. (19) And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. (20) Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. (21) Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. (22)
