The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? (1) Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. (2) Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (8) (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. (9) Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. (10) But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. (11) And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, (15) goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. (16) And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. (17) A fountain there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. (20) Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. (21) This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. (22)
