The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? (1) Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). (4) As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- (5) a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. (10) But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. (11) and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. (14) And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. (15) And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. (16) and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, (19) And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. (20) They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
