The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) We have indeed shown him the way whether he is grateful or ingrate. (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. (5) a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. (6) [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, (7) And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, (8) (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. (9) Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. (10) So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, (11) For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. (12) They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. (13) The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. (19) If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. (22)
