The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. (2) We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). (3) Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, (8) Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. (11) And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, (12) Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. (13) The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. (14) They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. (15) Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) from a fountain called Salsabila. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (19) When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. (20) Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. (21) [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." (22)
