The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
